Fiat to introduce ultra-cheap car to India
The technical details and the price of the car were not revealed. The company is talks with various Chinese companies for possible tie-ups and partnerships along with those in India.
Fiat aims to deepen its grip in the Asian markets and boost its market share. According to reliable sources, the company holding talks was in talks with Guangzhou Automobile Industry Group in China and already has tie-up with Chery Automobiles.
Fait made sensational news with the launch of its expensive model Fiat 500 from the small car segment. List of other models from the Fiat India Stable waiting to be launched in India are Fiat Linea, Grande Punto, Bravo, Alfa-Romeo.
Honda to Introduce Honda Jazz by June 2009
Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) will launch the car‘Jazz’ in India by June this year. The premium small car will be powered by a 1.2-litre engine which is said to be built exclusively for the Indian market.
Christened as Fit in global markets, Jazz is the first small car from Honda’s stable and is expected to come with a price tag of Rs 5.5 Lakh. Jazz will be positioned against the Skoda Fabia and the upcoming car Maruti Suzuki Ritz.
According to Masahiro Takedagawa (Managing Director & CEO, HSCI), “Jazz will have all the features found in a premium large car. Our survey shows that 80% hatchback customers feel that these cars lack legroom and headroom space which we have addressed in Jazz.”
He also added that the company has designed a new engine for India which will provide better fuel efficiency and power. In order to match the Indian road conditions, Jazz is also equipped with a well-tuned suspension system.
Volkswagen to Introduce Low Cost Car
Volkswagen is planning to launch a new car which will be built on the concept of Up. The new car is expected in the market by 2011. It is the first low-cost car developed by the car manufacturer which will be produced at the Slovakia plant. The small budget car is in compliance with the 2010 emission norms.
Nearly 400 million dollars is said to be the total investment.
